I went in for my first ultrasound at about 7 1/2 weeks and was told we were having twins, then we went back two weeks later and the doctor said that the midwives who had done the first ultra sound must have gotten a mirror image of the one baby...is it possible that I could still be carrying twins and one is hiding behind the other baby?

you could be yes, or you could have had whats called vanishing twin syndrome where one gets reabsorbed, so when you go back for scan there is only one baby.x
